Scope of work

• Preparing a tourism policy for the Old City of Aleppo, to be incorporated into the overall Development Strategy of the city. Work included:

  • Analyzing the tourism sector in Aleppo; i.e. compiling and analyzing data on supply and demand, structure of the tourism industry, stakeholders, role of government, competition, spread effect of tourism spendingÖetc.
  • Co-organizing and moderating participatory planning workshops that focused on guiding the development of tourism in-line-with urban heritage preservation. Stakeholders who participated in these workshops represented the international and local public and private sectors. Results were channeled into policy and strategies in the making.
  • Outlining policies for industry and product development, branding and marketing, data collection, and organization of the sector.

• Managing communication services for tourism development in Aleppo, including:

  • Design a proposal for a tourism brand image for the Old City.
  • Design of tourist maps and signage system for the Old City
  • Design and production of print, digital, and AV marketing materials
  • Co-organizing cultural events and preparing communication packages for these events.
